Hakomi – A Mindful Way
Hakomi is a method of assisted self study, a creative and compassionate way to experience self and others. Hakomi has developed over the past thirty years through the work and creative genius of Ron Kurtz and is currently taught and practiced worldwide by a network of practitioners in the fields of psychotherapy, counseling, leadership, personal growth and bodywork. Ron has authored three books on the method and continues to refine this original body of work based on current scientific discoveries in neuroscience, biology, physics and psychology.
The Hakomi experiential method of self study involves four basic steps:
- Establishing a safe and caring relationship with the client
- Training the client in the self-discovery process by supporting a state of mindfulness for the client and by creating an experimental environment
- Following the client’s present experiences, supporting emotions and memories as they arise, and exploring the limiting beliefs which cause unnecessary suffering
- Creating emotionally nourishing experiences and supporting insight and transformation
